About Us

Midnight Suns is dedicated to teaching softball fundamentals and life skills through good sportsmanship, leadership, positive coaching and peer and parent communication.

The Midnight Suns Fastpitch Softball Association is a non-profit organization comprised of a group of parent-volunteers who promote, organize, and supervise women’s youth fastpitch softball. Our goal is to provide a safe & competitive environment for young women to learn and enjoy the game of fast pitch softball and provide travel & local opportunities for young women to participate in softball tournament play.

As young athletes, the Midnight Suns work hard at developing many useful life skills.  Players build self-confidence as they reach goals, while challenging themselves against varied competition. Our teams strive to promote our values both on and off the field, and show respect in both victory and defeat.  We will strive to do our best as a team on the field, strive to be an outstanding community citizen and represent our family, town, state and Midnight Suns.  Academic success and social development are essential to the overall success of the program.  Coaches, players and parents are expected to conduct themselves in a positive manner when representing the program or cheering for our teams.

No coach, player or team representative will be allowed to compromise the integrity of the program, or violate the articles of the Midnight Suns by-laws.  There will be a zero-tolerance level for individuals who insist on violating the policies and procedures outlined in the “Parent/Player” agreement contract.  Personal agendas are secondary to team objectives.  Coaches, players and team representatives will treat each other with respect.  We will make every effort to provide an atmosphere in which coaches, players and parents will work collectively in the best interest of the program.

All funds, raised or donated, for the teams in the program will be spent solely on team operating expenses.

The Midnight Suns Fastpitch Softball Association offers a winter skills development program as well as traveling programs for players from ages 8-14.  Throughout the year, MSFSA offers clinics, including pitching and hitting, using local coaches as well as guest coaches brought in from around the country.

A variety of summer programs are planned, including travel to other Southeast communities in the spring and a Southeast Alaska Tournament in July.  Also, the 10U through 14U teams may travel out of state for tournaments in the lower 48.  In the past, teams have traveled to tournaments in Phoenix, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Portland, Salem, Seattle, and Vancouver, B.C.  Each team will be determined during winter practices who will make the travel team.

The Midnight Suns Fastpitch Softball Association is funded through a variety of sources including pull-tab gaming revenues, player fees, & fundraisers.

This program is partially funded by the citizens of the City and Borough of Juneau through a Youth Activity Grant.
